In November 2005, Linkin Park cofounder Mike Shinoda debuted as a solo creative individual with Rising Tied, an ambitious hookup credited to his castrate egotism, Fort Minor, that blended hip-hop with electronics and joust elements. The arrange was exec-produced by Jay-Z, world Health Organization had previously collaborated with Shinoda and Linkin Park on 2004's Collision Course. Even too featured pile of guests like Common and John Legend, as well as newer artists from Shinoda's Machine Shop imprint. The album was a doL of sexual love for the Linkin Park MC. Not only did he produce and mix in it, only Shinoda played 99 pct of the instruments; did all the sequencing and computer computer programing; and wrote some selfsame personal raps around his life, spring chicken, and class. "Kenji" was a standout, exploring the experience of Japanese-American internees during World War II. The track featured recordings of Shinoda's relatives discussing their experiences in the camps.

Illinois Senate Approves Gov. Blagojevich's Proposal To Extend Maximum Age Child Can Be Covered Under Parents' Health Insurance

The Illinois Senate on Tuesday voted 35-17 to approve a measure that would allow as many as 300,000 young adults to remain on their parents' health plans up to age 26, or up to eld 30 if they are veterans, the Chicago Tribune reports. Illinois currently does not have an long time requirement for dependent insurance coverage, so insurers set age limits on a policy-by-policy basis, with some halting coverage at 21 while others extend coverage several years for full time college students. Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D) proposed the measure as an addition to statute law that would give parents more flexibleness to let in children under their wellness policies in the case of an injury or illness that restricts them from enrolling full-time in college. The children must be single to be eligible for coverage.

Blagojevich aforementioned, "Parents of those young adults will have an option to give their children admission to fair to middling health precaution," adding, "This also invites thousands of additional healthy young adults into insurance pools, which can give birth a positive benefit for everyone."

The law is scheduled to take upshot on Jan. 1, 2009, and parents can begin including their children under their policies by the spring, the Tribune reports.

According to the Tribune, business groups have threatened to file a lawsuit to block personation of the law, claiming that it might encourage unhealthy young adults to obtain reportage under their parents' policies, resulting in higher policy rates for all beneficiaries. Sen. Dale Righter (R) said Blagojevich "badly dropped the ball" on the expansion language because he "cannot change the fundamental purpose" of the legislation.

Reaction
Kim Clarke Maisch, director of the Illinois branch of the National Federation of Independent Business, said, "If there's just one person who's insalubrious, the rates can rocket for everyone," adding, "And if there's one thing we know about the insurance industry, it's that they aren't going to pay an extra dime."

Jay Shattuck, a lobbyist with the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, aforesaid, "There ar hundreds of thousands world Health Organization have the option to buy coverage in the private market now that have failed to do so," adding, "Why would they seek coverage now?" Shattuck aforesaid the Chamber of Commerce will consider whether to file a lawsuit (Long/Garcia, Chicago Tribune, 8/19).

James Harman is a California-based blues isaac Bashevis Singer, mouth harp player, songwriter, and bandleader with an schedule that emphatically distances him from the rest of the pack. A stager of the blues roadhouse circumference, he has lED various combinations of the James Harman Band all over the geezerhood, nearly featuring tiptop natural endowment fund (like guitarists Hollywood Fats and Kid Ramos) to equal his own. With roots in the deepest of blues mouth harp sources (Little Walter, Walter Horton, Sonny Boy Williamson), Harman lots consistently both live and on record book. His near recent recorded efforts doorkeeper a genuine flair for writing original material (always more significant to Harman than but regurgitating his record assemblage), all of it tied with a generous dollop of wisecracking good humor. Always willing to debase the boundaries and conceptions of what a good bar isthmus should be capable of, Harman combines rich traditons and beat craziness for a portmanteau that's mighty voiceless to jib.

Wineheezy Faints, No One Surprised

No, this is not Groundhog Day. Amy Winehouse has been transported to the hospital -- again -- after fainting.

Winehouse's rep says the rehabtabulous singer was taken "as a precaution" after passing out at her house in London.

She'll be kept overnight for observation. Wonder who at the hospital gets that lovely job.

Sag Solidarity Not With Aftra

The Screen Actors Guild has scheduled what it is calling a "solidarity" rally
at its Wilshire Boulevard headquarters in Los Angeles on Monday, but trade
reports indicated today (Friday) that the rally will demonstrate no solidarity
whatsoever with the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists -- and
in fact will denounce AFTRA's recent agreement with the Alliance of Motion
Picture and Television Producers. Daily Variety reported that
representatives of Membership First, the activist group that now controls the
union plan to call on SAG members who hold dual membership in AFTRA to vote
against the deal when ratification ballots are sent out next week. The trade
publication quoted a message sent by Michael Heister saying that "being
physically present at this rally makes it known to AFTRA leadership and the
moguls that actors absolutely will stand up for their rights, that we will not
let our images be maligned for pennies, and we will not let the relevance of
our unions be eviscerated under the cover of new media." Variety
reported that little progress between SAG and the AMPTP was made on
Thursday and that the two sides had agreed to take three days off and meet
again on Monday. Meanwhile, a report from the Milken Institute released on
Thursday said that the recent strike by the Writers Guild of America cost the
state's economy $2.1 billion, with 37,700 workers losing their jobs.

Kylie's great, says Nick Cave

IT'S not often you hear the dark prince of rock, Nick Cave, deliver a glowing endorsement. But one of the most esteemed musicians in Australia has come out for Kylie.

Cave has traded his snarling cave-man charm for adoring appreciation. As the divine Miss M began her X 2008 tour in Paris yesterday, Cave delivered a glowing review when asked his thoughts on the singer, with whom he collaborated on the 1996 hit Where the Wild Roses Grow. "Kylie Minogue is the greatest thing that has happened to Australian music," Cave told Cream magazine. "Before her the world didn't have a f...ing clue about our music nor any interest in it. Kylie has more greatness in her little fingernail than every f...ing Aussie indie band put together." The man has spoken.

Amy Winehouse brands Pete Doherty’s music “s*it”

Amy Winehouse and Pete DohertyAmy Winehouse has branded pal Pete Doherty’s music “s*it”.

“Amy has thrown back every song Pete has written for her,” says a source close to the Back to Black singer. “She keeps telling him it’s rubbish — and worse — and she’ll only perform if the song is great.

“When she’s in the studio she can be ruthless and doesn’t care about hurting people.

“Pete’s really struggling to get it together. It hasn’t clicked yet.”

R Kelly's alleged sex video aired in court

LATEST: Jurors and spectators in a darkened courtroom have watched a graphic video showing what prosecutors contend is R&B star R Kelly in a sexual encounter with an underage girl.

But lawyers defending the Grammy Award-winning artist said the 26-minute tape shows neither Kelly nor the girl they allege was his victim, and where the video came from remains a mystery.

The tape featuring oral sex and other acts drew little noticeable response from the jurors who will decide if the musician, whose given name is Robert Kelly, is guilty of 14 counts of videotaping, producing and soliciting child pornography - charges that could land him in prison for up to 15 years.

On the tape, which prosecutors say was made in Chicago between January 1998 and November 2000 when the girl was 13 or 14, the face of the man alleged to be Kelly is visible only a few times but he can be seen handing the girl money and heard giving her commands.

The video was shown after prosecutors and defense lawyers gave opening statements in Kelly's trial, with Shauna Boliker of the Cook County state's attorney's office calling the video's contents "vile, disturbing and disgusting sex acts, actions that were choreographed, produced and starred in by Robert Kelly."

"The case will unfold before you frame by disgusting frame," she added, with the girl "doing what she's told. There's no feeling in her face. It is clear she is an underaged girl" whom Kelly met when she was 12.

Boliker said the girl - now in her 20s - will not testify for the prosecution. She has said it is not her on the tape and refused to testify against Kelly, but she may be called as a defense witness, court records indicate.

"Robert Kelly is not on that tape," said defense lawyer Sam Adam.

"There isn't an original of this tape. The tape you're going to see here is at best a copy of a copy of a copy of the original."

Adam said the FBI reviewed the tape and could not identify Kelly as being on the tape.

The trial before Judge Vincent Gaughan of the Cook County Criminal Court got under way six years after Kelly was charged and may last up to seven weeks.

The accusations prompted some radio stations to stop playing Kelly's songs but did not derail his career. He has earned millions of dollars from concert tours and album sales while being free on $750,000 bond.

Kelly shot to fame in the early 1990s with hits like Sex Me and Bump n' Grind.

The carnality of his early lyrics gave way to wholesomeness with the 1996 single I Believe I Can Fly, which earned him three Grammy Awards.

Sex And The City - Can Women Alone Make A Film A Hit

If the latest Indiana Jones movie is attracting generally older moviegoers,
next weekend's top release, Sex and the City, also looks to attract a
non-habitual audience -- women in their 40s and early 50s. As reported by the
Associated Press, the online ticketing service Fandango has determined from a
survey of ticket buyers that 94 percent are women; 67 percent plan to see the
film in a group of other women; 16 percent said that they were going with one
other woman; and just 6 percent said they were going with a man. Paul
Dergarabedian, president of box-office trackers Media by Numbers, told the AP
that his group has determined that the primary audience will be women from 20
to 55. "A huge female audience can create a blockbuster of a movie if there's
enough interest," he said.

'American Idol' Champ Jordin Sparks Predicts A David Cook/ David Archuleta Showdown In The Finals

We all know how the votes have been going on "American Idol," and we've seen some huge talents come and go during the season. But who does last year's winner think will take it all during this year's finale?

We'll give you a hint — they have a Y chromosome.

"I really like Jason Castro," Sparks told MTV News from the orange carpet at last weekend's Kids' Choice Awards. "I like his look, and I love his vulnerability. He goes out there, and if he messes up, he's just like, 'Oops.' But I like David Cook too. I think the guys are where it's at this year. I love you, girls — please don't get me wrong — and I could be totally wrong, because the show is so unpredictable."

But when pressed to go out on a limb and call this season's champ, Sparks demurred but eventually spilled the beans.

"It's going to be either David Archuleta or David Cook," she predicted, before saying that she ultimately believes David Cook — who was hospitalized after Tuesday's show — will be America's next "Idol."

And Sparks will get a chance to meet this year's contenders when she returns to the "Idol" stage for the second "Idol Gives Back" charity event, airing April 9. But there's someone Sparks is really looking forward to meeting next week — and it's not a potential "Idol" but a bona fide one.

"I would die if I got to meet Mariah Carey," she said, in reference to the scheduled "Idol Gives Back" performer.

"Idol" aside, though, Sparks has a lot on her plate. Following next week's appearance on "Idol," Sparks will head out on tour with Alicia Keys and Ne-Yo, before heading overseas for a European jaunt. She's also still trying to break into acting but said she's gotten no serious offers to do so — yet.

"Hopefully, I will get to do some acting soon, because it's so much fun," Sparks said. "When I get to do the music videos, it's like my only chance to act. It's exciting, because I get to be a different character. I love changing into different characters."

What roles would she love to tackle? "I could play the best friend, maybe a broken-hearted girl — anything," she proclaimed.

Sparks' self-titled debut album hit stores in November and has sold well over 600,000 copies.

Get your "Idol" fix on MTV News' "American Idol" page, where you'll find all the latest news, interviews and opinions. And relive six seasons of "Idol" hot messes and high notes in six minutes with our video timeline.

Clooney Stung By 'Leatherheads' Flop

George Clooney was hurt by the failure of his most recent movie Leatherheads - but is determined to learn from the experience. A month after its release, the American football movie has grossed $36 million; $22 million short of its $58 million budget. It only reached third place in the U.S. box office and disappointed critics - leaving director and star Clooney devastated. He tells Rolling Stone, "It bombed and when I say bombed, it bombed. Someone said, 'How does that feel?' and it stings a little bit. It's not like we just showed up: I was working on this for a couple years and put a lot of work into it, and you get knocked back a little bit." But he refuses to be beaten, insisting, "The trick is how you handle things when things don't go great. It's easy when things are doing well: The people I most admire are the people who handle it when the studio says that's really underperformed and they say, 'Ow, that hurt.' I've been a fan of watching people go through cycles, not just winning cycles."

Liv Tyler's Marriage In Trouble?

Liv Tyler has left question marks hanging over her marriage to British rocker Royston Langdon, after posing at New York's Costume Institute Gala on Monday night without a wedding ring. The couple married in March 2003, and have a three-year-old son, Milo. But sources claim the relationship has been on the rocks for some time; rumors seemingly confirmed when Tyler strolled the red carpet alone at the star-studded event, with a clearly naked ring finger - the same night Scarlett Johansson was showing off her brand new engagement ring. When contacted by the New York Daily News, a representative for Tyler, 30, refused to comment on the speculation surrounding her marriage.
